Prince Harry has openly admitted to watching the popular Netflix series The Crown, though his personal habits are just as intriguing.
During a 2023 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote his memoir Spare, Harry discussed his viewing of the royal drama. A clip from the interview, shared on X (formerly Twitter), shows Harry humorously recounting his experiences. When Colbert asked if he fact-checks the show, Harry jokingly raised his eyebrows, eliciting laughter from the audience. However, he then responded seriously, affirming, “Yes, that’s right.”
This wasn’t the first time Harry addressed the series. In a 2021 interview with James Corden, Harry candidly described the show as a blend of fact and fiction, explaining that while it captures elements of royal life, it isn’t entirely accurate. He remarked that The Crown offers insight into the pressures of prioritizing work and duty over family, as well as the consequences of those choices.
The series has caused significant division within the royal family. While Prince Harry has viewed it, Prince William and Kate Middleton reportedly refuse to watch it, despite their romance being a central storyline in its sixth season. Royal biographer Robert Hardman noted in Queen of Our Times: The Life of Elizabeth II that King Charles III and other senior royals have been dismissive of the show. Charles, in particular, is said to have rolled his eyes at claims that it’s “just a drama.” Reports suggest he no longer watches the series, choosing instead to focus on his immediate family.
Sources indicate that Queen Elizabeth II found the show “ridiculous and not entertaining.” Meanwhile, rumors have circulated about tensions between Charles and Harry over family matters. A report in The Mirror claimed Charles is eager to maintain a connection with all his grandchildren, including Harry’s children. The king reportedly values family deeply and strives to stay involved, even if that’s limited to occasional video calls.
However, according to The Daily Mail, the situation remains tense. Harry has allegedly continued his public criticisms of his father and the royal family, further straining their relationship. The prince has also raised concerns in court about the safety of bringing his family to the UK, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing drama.
