Meghan Markle Gets a Taste of Her Own Medicine After Calling Catherine a Stepford Wife

Meghan Markle, the queen of reinvention, has certainly kept us on our toes.

Meghan Markle Gets a Taste of Her Own Medicine After Calling Catherine a Stepford Wife

From the Princess of Pretending to now hosting a cooking show on Netflix, her journey has been nothing short of a spectacle. After the whirlwind of royal drama and multi-million dollar deals, it seems like there’s only one thing left for a former Duchess to do: don a crown and play the part of British royalty, but in a way that's so over-the-top and lacking in authenticity, it feels almost cartoonish.

Enter the trailer for Meghan's upcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, where she’s joined by Mindy Kaling. Mindy, always self-aware enough to laugh at herself, is more than willing to dive headfirst into whatever extravagant charade Meghan has dreamt up. And what do we see first in this chaotic trailer? The two women, in their late 40s, having a garden tea party. It's the epitome of royal aspirations—complete with mismatched balloons and a dress that looks like it was plucked from a fairytale-themed birthday bash. What are we really witnessing here? Two women who appear to have raided their mothers’ wardrobes for this over-the-top dress-up game, playing at being royalty in the most conspicuous and awkward way possible.

Let’s address this whole British tea party vibe. Meghan, the embodiment of California cool, has now transformed into a woman who somehow represents beige and bland. And yet, suddenly, she’s obsessed with floral prints and pastel decor. Seriously? This feels as believable as a cactus trying to thrive in an ice cube. It’s a royal impersonation at its finest—so cringe-worthy that it almost feels like a joke. Are we meant to believe this is genuine, or is Meghan simply auditioning for the role of a Stepford wife in a low-budget soap opera?

It’s also hard to ignore Meghan’s pattern of saying one thing and doing the complete opposite. Didn’t she once claim that she never wanted to be a “lady who lunches”? Well, here she is, hosting a Netflix show where she spends her days baking cakes with D-list celebrities. The irony is palpable. Let’s not forget Meghan’s previous commentary on Princess Catherine, where she had the audacity to mock Catherine for being a “Stepford Wife.” Perhaps it’s time to remind ourselves of Meghan’s past declarations, particularly her insistence on rejecting the traditional, stuffy royal life. And yet, here she is, in a show that practically screams “I want to be a traditional royal” louder than the Queen’s crown on a Sunday morning.

The contrast is staggering. Imagine if Meghan had embraced the life she could have had as a true royal. Instead, she’s here, selling us an illusion of royal life while wearing outfits that look more suited for a toddler’s tea party than anything remotely regal. But credit where it’s due—the level of delusion she’s able to maintain is impressive. It almost feels as if Meghan Markle is starring in her own reality show, where the only thing real is the chaos of her contradictions.
