Meghan Markle and Prince Harry BOOED at Canucks Game

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle likely thought they could make a grand entrance at a Vancouver Canucks game, flash a few polite smiles, and effortlessly win over the crowd.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry BOOED at Canucks Game

Unfortunately for them, Canadian hockey fans aren’t easily charmed by fairy tales—especially when the main characters include a royal who walked away from royalty and his ever-present Hollywood wife. Their surprise appearance at the NHL matchup between the Vancouver Canucks and the Toronto Maple Leafs did not go as planned. Instead of receiving warm applause, they were met with an unmistakable and resounding rejection. Meghan’s insiders may try to spin it otherwise, but the crowd’s reaction made it painfully clear: they were not welcome.

Harry’s expression spoke volumes, revealing emotions words could not. As Meghan clung to him, beaming her signature "look how happy I am" grin, Harry’s face told a different story. He looked like a man who suddenly realized he could have been at home, enjoying the game in peace, rather than being paraded around for yet another public spectacle. Instead, he was on display while Meghan ensured every moment was carefully documented. At this point, he’s less of a partner and more of an accessory—a human handbag caught in a never-ending PR tour.

Every photo from the event painted the same picture. Meghan, animated and delighted—performing, as always—while Harry’s expression silently screamed for an escape plan. And then came the moment on the Jumbotron. Silence at first. Then, the unmistakable sound of booing. There’s no clearer way to let someone know they should have stayed home than a stadium full of hockey fans voicing their disapproval.

Meghan’s tight grip on Harry only added to the spectacle. It wasn’t the kind of affectionate gesture one would expect from a long-married couple—it was something closer to a hostage situation. Her grip was so firm it was a wonder his arm remained intact. She even rested her head on his shoulder, striking a pose reminiscent of a high school prom photo. Sweet, perhaps, if they were teenagers in the throes of young love. But for a couple married for six years, it reeked of damage control. The persistent divorce rumors must have struck a nerve, and Meghan was clearly determined to squash them with an over-the-top display.

Hockey fans, however, were unmoved. Canadians are known for their politeness, but that goodwill evaporated the second Meghan’s face appeared on the big screen. They came for the game, not to be subjected to yet another Sussex publicity stunt. Their reaction made their priorities clear—hockey first, unwanted PR sideshows last.

Technically, Meghan and Harry were in Canada for an Invictus Games 2025 event, an initiative that once meant everything to Harry. However, in recent years, it seems that every Sussex appearance is less about the cause and more about Meghan’s ongoing rebranding efforts. If their true intention was to support the Invictus athletes, they could have brought them along or made the event about them. Instead, predictably, it became yet another Sussex-centered affair.

Canadians, much like the British, have grown tired of the endless self-promotion, forced smiles, and desperate attempts to stay in the spotlight. If Harry and Meghan believed they could charm their way into the hearts of Canadian hockey fans, they seriously miscalculated. Their brand has long been built on the narrative of escaping royal life in search of happiness, yet ironically, they’ve never looked more trapped.
