Meghan Markle is once again at the center of controversy, this time over yet another alleged case of idea theft.
She has announced her latest project, a podcast titled Confessions of a Female Founder, which bears a striking resemblance to existing shows with nearly identical names and concepts. The big reveal came with much enthusiasm, as she shared that the show would debut on April 8 in collaboration with Lemonada Media. She described it as a candid space for conversations with successful female entrepreneurs. However, it didn't take long for observers to point out that multiple podcasts with extremely similar titles and formats already exist.
One of these is Confessions of a CEO, a Spotify podcast that explores both the glamorous and challenging aspects of female entrepreneurship. Another is Confessions of a Founder, which, as the name suggests, covers the experiences of women building their own businesses. Despite these pre-existing projects, Meghan has once again managed to introduce something that just so happens to mirror what’s already out there. Social media users were quick to call her out, noting that an independent podcaster, Katie M., had already produced content under the Confessions of a Female Founder name. Yet, this didn’t seem to deter Meghan from branding it as her own and moving forward with the launch.
Adding fuel to the speculation, some internet sleuths pointed out an intriguing coincidence—Meghan’s podcast was announced on the exact same day that entrepreneur Amy Griffin was releasing her book, The Tell. The timing seemed far from accidental, especially given that Meghan had previously shown up uninvited to one of Griffin’s events in the Hamptons, where she was notably ignored by the accomplished women in attendance. If nothing else, it seems she was taking notes—just not the kind that lead to originality.
In her announcement, Meghan spoke excitedly about building her own business while interviewing other successful women. The only issue? She has yet to build a thriving business of her own. Her acting career was unremarkable, her time as a royal ended in turmoil, and her production deals have largely fizzled out. Even her approach to feminism feels outdated, disconnected from the realities of today’s digital creator economy. Yet, she’s now positioned as a mentor to female entrepreneurs—though it’s unclear what insights she can offer beyond lessons in controversy and public missteps.
Meghan’s career trajectory increasingly resembles a repetitive cycle of Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V—borrowing ideas, repackaging them, and ultimately watching them fade into obscurity. Whether it’s podcast names, business concepts, or media ventures that never quite take off, she continues to prove that opportunistic imitation might just be her greatest skill. Will Confessions of a Female Founder be the groundbreaking success she envisions? If history is any indication, that seems unlikely. But if it flops, there’s always another existing idea out there waiting for her next “original” project.
