The show’s rapid ascent in viewership, largely attributed to hate-watching, has led to scathing reviews, with The Times columnist Caitlin Moran being among its most vocal critics. In her review, Moran describes the show as a lackluster attempt at polished perfection, ultimately calling it a “third-rate piece of TV.” She highlights several aspects that contribute to this assessment, including the jarring use of upbeat music, the fact that it is filmed in a rented home rather than Meghan and Harry’s actual residence, and awkward moments left in due to insufficient footage for better editing.

Moran also draws attention to the production company behind the show, Archewell, which is owned by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. She suggests that Meghan’s heavy involvement as executive producer reflects a desire for control, which she interprets as a sign of desperation. According to Moran, Meghan’s transition from a moderately successful actress to a global media figure after marrying Prince Harry has resulted in an overwhelming level of press scrutiny—often disproportionate compared to far more serious global issues.

To illustrate her point, Moran notes that while most people would struggle to name a Congolese warlord, nearly everyone is familiar with intimate details of Meghan’s life, from her family members to her favorite wine. She cites a staggering statistic: between March 1 and March 11, MailOnline published 111 stories about Meghan, with only one—reluctant praise for her focaccia recipe—offering anything positive.
