Ana de Armas recently shared a behind-the-scenes moment from her upcoming film Eden, which is scheduled for release on August 22, 2025.
Speaking during her appearance on Hot Ones, the actress opened up about a particular scene she found especially difficult to film—one that involved her singing on camera. Starring alongside Jude Law, Vanessa Kirby, Daniel Brühl, and Sydney Sweeney, de Armas described her initial reaction to the scene with clear discomfort. She admitted to approaching director Ron Howard with a request to lip sync instead, saying, “I hated it. I remember talking to Ron and telling him, ‘Ron, I really think I should lip sync. This is not for me.’ But he didn’t want to hear it.”
The film, a survival thriller inspired by a true story, follows the dramatic power dynamics between three couples attempting to settle on the remote Galápagos Islands. As the tension builds on screen, de Armas was dealing with her own personal struggle off camera, particularly around her performance in the singing scene.
Recalling Howard’s insistence, she continued, “He told me, ‘No, you’re singing. If it’s bad, it works for the character.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, but people won’t know that.’” Despite her protests, she ultimately had to learn the song herself, as the director remained firm in his vision.
She admitted the experience was overwhelming, saying, “It was horrible. I was terrified. I would rather do a hundred stunts than sing that song. It was especially difficult with all the actors watching. I felt completely exposed and vulnerable. Singing is definitely not one of my strengths.” With that, she wrapped up her interview, leaving no doubt about how deeply the moment affected her.
