Hollywood Turns on Meghan Markle! Netflix AXES Meghan Markle’s Show, Not Royal Headaches

The glamorous image that once surrounded the project has completely collapsed. Netflix has officially cancelled the second season of With Love, Meghan, which was originally intended to offer a warm and inspiring continuation of the first season.

Instead of generating excitement, the series became mired in controversy, largely due to Meghan Markle’s actions behind the scenes. Internal sources confirmed that Netflix didn’t just pause production—they shut it down entirely following what they described as an extravagant and unrealistic ultimatum from Meghan herself. Executives reportedly found her demands not only financially reckless but also tone-deaf and disconnected from industry realities.

What unfolded was more than just a disagreement over creative direction or budgeting. It became a striking example of Meghan’s relentless pursuit of control and opulence, ambitions that Netflix ultimately rejected. According to individuals involved with the production, Meghan’s budget requests for the second season were nearly triple those of the first. However, these increases weren’t justified by a need for sophisticated storytelling or visionary filmmaking. Instead, she insisted on lavish set designs inspired by European royal residences and required imported Italian flowers for every episode.

Her requests extended even further—demanding over $300,000 for each guest appearance and vintage French crystalware for use in kitchen scenes. One executive commented anonymously that she was turning the show into something resembling Versailles, treating Netflix's budget as though it were her personal piggy bank. When the company hesitated, Meghan allegedly threatened to break their contract and explore deals with competitors like Apple or Prime Video. This standoff led Netflix to cancel the series outright and cease all promotional efforts.

When With Love premiered earlier this year, it attracted initial interest due to Meghan’s celebrity status and an aggressive marketing campaign. But enthusiasm quickly faded, with viewership declining sharply after just two episodes. Both critics and general audiences criticized the series as shallow and overly polished, perceiving it as a transparent attempt by Meghan to reassert her relevance in a cultural space that had largely moved on.

Behind the scenes, production staff recounted that Meghan was deeply invested in receiving critical praise. She frequently described the series as award-worthy, with one senior crew member recalling her belief that it would surpass lifestyle icons like Martha Stewart and Gwyneth Paltrow. Plans were even in motion for an episode in which she intended to draw parallels between herself and Princess Diana, reportedly describing herself as the “stronger” figure. Many involved found this not only unsettling but also self-indulgent.

Netflix executives reportedly reached their breaking point when Meghan began pushing for a private awards campaign budget, which included sending luxury gift baskets to Emmy voters and hosting elite promotional events in Montecito and London. She even proposed a red carpet premiere on the River Thames. A senior executive summed up the situation bluntly: “It was delusional.”

Meanwhile, Prince Harry had very little involvement in either the first season or discussions about the second. Although his name appeared on the project under Archewell Productions alongside Meghan’s, staff noted he rarely participated in production and never visited the set. According to one producer, he appeared visibly unhappy whenever he was coaxed into brief guest appearances.
