Meghan Markle has raised concerns after comments she made about her luxury lifestyle brand drew criticism from several branding experts.
One such expert, Renae Smith, who is the founder and director of The Atticism, offered a sharp analysis of Meghan’s current approach.
Speaking to Express UK, Smith addressed Meghan’s intention to take a step back from her brand and described it as a reactive strategy that lacks leadership. She emphasized that if Meghan wants to be taken seriously in the business world, she needs to shift gears and adopt a clear rollout strategy. According to Smith, this includes abandoning vague language like “pause and reassess” and instead treating her customers as discerning individuals, not just loyal followers willing to support anything bearing her name.
Smith identified consistency, communication, and credibility as essential pillars for any successful brand, noting that Meghan currently lacks all three. Without these foundational elements, the stability of her brand remains questionable.
This scrutiny follows Meghan’s appearance on the Confessions of a Female Founder podcast, where she spoke with Tina Knowles, the mother of Beyoncé. During the episode, Meghan remarked, “I'm looking at it, saying, just pause. That happened. Let's wait until we are completely stable, and we have everything we need.”
