As Duchess Meghan recently discussed on her podcast Confessions of a Female Founder, there’s a distinct pressure that comes with royal dressing—so much so that she wore towering six-inch heels even during her pregnancy with Prince Archie.
Yet, there comes a point when seasoned royals begin to bend the rules, adding their own flair to tradition. Queen Letizia is a prime example, consistently surprising us with her thoughtful and stylish footwear choices.
Though she certainly knows how to wear a classic pump, Queen Letizia keeps her shoe game fresh with an eclectic mix of styles. From bold black loafers and shiny Mary Janes to glimmering strappy sandals, her choices are as versatile as they are elegant. Most recently, she’s signaled the arrival of wedge season in her own signature way.
This morning, Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI visited the picturesque municipality of Guadalupe. For the occasion, the queen looked radiant in a flowing maxi shirtdress adorned with vivid floral prints in shades of orange, purple, and blue. The dress featured a button-down front and sleeves casually rolled up to the elbows. Her look was complemented by a pair of striking royal blue diamond drop earrings that echoed the tones in her outfit.
What truly turned heads, however, were her shoes. Channeling a favorite summer style of fellow royals like Princess Kate, Letizia chose a pair of espadrille wedges in a soft gray hue. The design featured delicate silk laces across the toe caps and elegant leather ankle straps, lending the look a blend of rustic charm and refined detail.
