Britney Spears Drops Shocking Family Bombshell in DUI Arrest Video

Newly released police bodycam footage from Britney Spears’ March DUI arrest captured the pop icon making emotional and alarming statements about her mother, Lynne Spears, during her interaction with officers. As police warned Britney about the dangers of driving under the influence, the singer responded by bringing up a tragic incident from her family’s past. According to footage obtained by TMZ, Britney claimed that her mother had once struck and killed a young boy while driving and was never arrested or punished for it. The singer repeatedly questioned why her mother “got away with everything” and became increasingly distressed during the exchange with officers.

Britney also made additional accusations against Lynne during the arrest, at one point alleging that her mother had “tried to kill” her. The conversation quickly became tense as officers informed the Grammy winner that she was being taken into custody. The footage has since sparked intense discussion online, with fans expressing concern over Britney’s emotional state and the ongoing strain within the Spears family.

The incident Britney referenced dates back to 1975 and was previously detailed by Lynne Spears in her 2008 memoir, Through the Storm. In the book, Lynne described a devastating car accident that occurred while she was rushing her injured brother to a hospital in Kentwood, Louisiana. She recalled driving in rainy conditions on slippery roads when she lost control of the vehicle near two boys riding bicycles. According to her account, one child managed to avoid the car, but the other — 12-year-old Anthony Winters — was fatally struck. Lynne wrote that she realized in a split second that she would be unable to stop the vehicle despite hitting the brakes. Authorities reportedly did not file criminal charges against her following the tragedy.

Additional footage from Britney’s arrest reportedly showed the singer struggling through a field sobriety test while insisting she had consumed only one mimosa earlier in the day. During the interaction, she made several unusual remarks to officers, including boasting about her alcohol tolerance and calling herself “an angel.” Police records also stated that Britney admitted to taking multiple prescription medications, including Lamictal, Prozac, and Adderall.

Authorities located Britney after receiving several 911 calls from concerned drivers in Ventura County who claimed they witnessed a BMW being driven erratically. Callers alleged the vehicle was weaving between lanes, braking suddenly, and nearly sideswiping other cars on the road. The reports prompted police to stop the vehicle and begin the investigation that ultimately led to the arrest.

Following the incident, Britney reportedly checked herself into a rehabilitation facility in April for treatment and evaluation. She was later released and sources close to the singer claimed she was recovering well. During a court appearance on May 4, Britney’s attorney, Michael Goldstein, accepted a “wet reckless” plea deal on her behalf. Under the agreement, the singer was placed on informal probation for one year and ordered to complete a three-month alcohol education program totaling 30 hours.
