When 15 years have passed since Angelina Jolie kissed her brother, James Haven, at the Oscar ceremony, a family friend revealed the motivations for the gesture that, at the time, was described as "incestuous" by the press.
Cis Rundle, who was a close friend of Angelina and James's mother, Marcheline Bertrand, explained that the brothers experienced one of their most difficult moments that day, as their mother began treating ovarian cancer that took her life seven years later.
"The day she kissed Jamie at the Oscars was the first day Marcheline received treatment for her cancer. They left the hospital together and prepared (for the ceremony) together," Rundle was quoted as saying by the British newspaper The Mirror.
"Nobody in the world knew what they faced that day in the hospital. It was like 'look where we are now', but the world saw something incestuous. It had to mean 'we are here', because they only had each other. They had a very close relationship between them and with their mother," added the woman.
But that day was also one of the most important in the career of the actress, as she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Girl, Interrupted"
