Johnny Depp's career is not going through its best moment. The legal battle against his ex Amber Heard has caused his image to end up on the ground, even provoking a debate about whether or not to give him a Donostia award. Now the actor has broken several months of silence, stating that he suffers a boycott by Hollywood.
Depp has taken advantage of the promotional campaign for 'The Photographer from Minamata', his next film, to comment on how concerned he is about the resistance shown by MGM when it comes to releasing the film in the United States when it can be seen in theaters elsewhere of the world. Depp himself acts as its producer and is concerned about how his current situation can play against it:
Because of the boycott that Hollywood does to me? A man, an actor in a nasty and messy situation for the last few years? But, you know, I'm moving towards where I need to go to make all of that to get things out there.
The support of the fans
The actor also wanted to thank the fans who have maintained their support for him despite the difficulties he is going through lately, remembering that in the end they are the ones who get you a job and not the studios themselves:
All of them are the ones who give us work. They buy tickets, merchandising. They made all those studios rich, but they forgot about it a long time ago. I have not done it. I'm proud of these people, for what they're trying to say, which is the truth. The truth that they are trying to bring to light, since they do not do it in the mainstream publications. It is a long road that sometimes gets bumpy. Sometimes it's just stupid. But they stayed on the journey with me and it is for them that I will fight. Always to the end. Whatever it is.
It is true that the ways of some of his followers have not been exactly exemplary with his campaigns to try to get Warner to fire Heard from 'Aquaman 2', but it is not difficult to understand what has led Depp to want to thank the support from him.
