Some of your favorite performers may not have set foot in an acting school in their lives. We reveal seven whose talent comes standard.
Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt's story is one of the most curious in Hollywood. The actor studied Journalism and Graphic Design at the University of Missouri, but with a couple of weeks left to finish his degree and graduate, he decided to leave everything and go to Los Angeles to dedicate himself to the world of acting. There he subsisted for several months thanks to jobs such as that of a giant chicken in a hamburger restaurant or as a driver in a limousine company. His first role was as an extra and little by little he was getting small roles in films in which he did not appear until he got his first more or less important role in the series 'Dallas'. Since then, a career that has not stopped growing until he became one of the great movie stars of the 21st century.
Jennifer Lawrence
She has been at the top for several years showing film by film why she is one of the great actresses in Hollywood, but Lawrence never stepped foot in an acting school. The actress convinced her family to look for an agent at the age of 14, confident in her possibilities and she was not wrong. At 16 she landed her first television role of hers on 'The Bill Engvall Show' and from there she built her successful career. At 27 years old she has already garnered great awards like the Oscar she got in 2012, and she still has a very promising future ahead of her.
Russell Crowe
The Oscar winner for 'Gladiator' never studied acting either. His was innate. The New Zealander's parents were closely connected to the world of acting through their catering company. He was attracted to that world from a young age and at the age of 6 it was him when he first appeared on television in a small role in the series 'Spyforce'. As he grew older he became more interested in acting, although he refused to study at the National Institute for Dramatic Arts in Sydney, despite the insistence of his parents. But that didn't stop Crowe from becoming a great actor. After a brief stint in the world of music, he decided to dedicate himself fully to the cinema to become the star he is today.
Idris Elbe
Although he did go to an art school, he did not go to acting, but to music. The Briton left high school at the age of 16 to join the National Youth Music Theater in London. It was then that he understood that his career was tied to acting and he began auditioning for small roles on British television. His role in 'The Wire' was the turning point in his career and opened many doors for him. Although it is said that to become a movie star he still needs a big hit at the box office, it is indisputable that we are dealing with one of the great actors of Hollywood.
Christian bale
The chameleon Christian Bale did not need acting classes to become one of the best actors in Hollywood. Raised in England, Portugal, or Spain, he dropped out of school at the age of 16 and went behind the scenes at the tender age of 8 in an advertisement. His arrival in Los Angeles with his father after the divorce from his mother turned out to be key to his career. It was then that he took off and became what he is today.
Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise had a difficult childhood because of his overbearing father and his pronounced dyslexia. He went through more than 10 schools and because of this illness, he decided to drop out at a very early age. At the age of 14, he entered a seminary to become a priest, though he eventually dropped out. In New Jersey, he began to approach the world of acting. His first important role was when he was already 28 years old 'Endless Love', without having previously studied anything.
Joaquin Phoenix
The four Phoenix brothers showed from a very young age that they had four artists inside. Their parents did not let that talent go by and from a young age, they hired a representative to enhance their careers. His first jobs were in commercials and on television shows. At just 10 years old, Joaquin appeared for the first time in the cinema in 'Space Camp'. Although the death in 1993 of an overdose of his brother, fellow actor River Phoenix, temporarily removed him from the world of acting, it was not for long. He had too much talent to waste. Gus Vant Sant rescued him in 1995 in 'All for a Dream' and since then he has proven to be one of the best actors in Hollywood.
