65-year-old actor accidentally shot and killed the director of photography in October 2021 after receiving a gun that should have been out of ammunition. The criminal charges against him were dropped by the prosecution after new evidence from his attorney
Alec Baldwin reportedly lost about 20 pounds recently amid the stress caused by the tragedy on the set of 'Rust', when he accidentally shot and killed Halyna Hutchins, director of photography, in 2021.
The situation would be worrying the friends and family of Alec Baldwin.
The actor was spotted around New York City last month with what appeared to be a glucose monitor on his left arm; he appeared to be thinner than usual. “He has a history of yo-yo dieting and, with his fiery temper and eating habits, he is a prime candidate for high blood pressure and possible heart problems,” warns a source.
“He stopped eating carbs and sugar to lose 20 pounds of fat. But make no mistake, this is not a healthy guy!” assured the contact of the North American site. Alec Baldwin revealed in 2012 that he was pre-diabetic and needed to make drastic lifestyle changes.
Recently, prosecutors dropped criminal charges against Alec Baldwin in the case that resulted in the death of Halyna Hutchins. The movement occurred after the actor's lawyer proved that the gun used on set had been modified with new parts and was no longer 100% original, which undermined the theory that it could only have fired with the trigger pulled - the main support of the prosecution.
However, the prosecution explained that the case can be reopened if new evidence of the actor's guilt emerges. "This ruling does not absolve Mr. Baldwin of criminal culpability and the charges may be re-filed," they said at the time.
Shortly before this news of the dropped charges, a source told Radar, "Alec is beyond stressed [about returning to film 'Rust']. With his legal issues and the trauma of what happened, he feels sick to his stomach.”
Just this week, the first photos emerged of Alec Baldwin back on the traumatic set of 'Rust' to continue filming.
Remember the Case
Alec Baldwin accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during the filming of 'Rust' in October 2021. The actor was given the gun in hand for the recording and was told it was a "cold gun", meaning unloaded and safe for use in filming.
In an interview with ABC News in December 2021, Alec Baldwin cried and said, "Well, the trigger wasn't pulled. I didn't pull the trigger. I would never point a gun at someone and pull the trigger on them. Never." In conversation, the actor said he just pulled the hammer back while testing its placement on camera – and the gun went off.
