Amber Heard is confirmed in 'Aquaman 2' even after an online campaign with 4.6 million signatures calling for her resignation

The first trailer for 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' confirmed the presence of Amber Heard in the cast – even after an online campaign asked for her removal from the film.

The preview of the DC Comics feature was revealed at the CinemaCon film convention in Nevada, in the United States. According to Insider, the clip included two short takes of Heard – who plays Mera – in a battle under the sea. None of the scenes featured dialogue from the actress, however.

Amid the legal battle between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, in which both accused each other of defamation and domestic abuse, netizens created an online petition asking for the removal of Heard from the new film starring Jason Momoa, which is a sequel to 'Aquaman ' (2018). So far, the petition has 4.62 million signatures.

In June 2022, when the trial came to an end, rumors emerged that the artist would have been completely removed from the feature film. However, Heard denied this claim in an international press release: "The rumor continues as it has from day one – inaccurate, insensitive, and a little insane".

What Americana admitted is that some of her scenes had been cut from production. In testimony at her trial with Depp, she stated, "I fought really hard to stay in the movie; they didn't want to include me."

“I was given a script and then rewrites of the text that took scenes that had an action that showed my character and another – without spoiling it – fighting,” she added. “They basically took a lot out of my role. They just removed a bunch of sequels."

The first 'Aquaman' was one of DC Studios' biggest hits over the past decade, having earned more than $1 billion at the box office around the world.
