Angelina Jolie accuses Brad Pitt of abuse on a private plane days before filing for divorce

Amid a lawsuit by a French winery, Angelina Jolie presented court documents in which she accuses her ex-husband Brad Pitt of drunkenly assaulting her and their children during a private plane flight, which led her to request the divorce soon after.

The ongoing dispute over a winery the stars bought when they were together has prompted the American actress to file a lawsuit alleging that Pitt grabbed her by the head and attacked two of her children on a trip that took place on the 14th of September 2016.

Likewise, according to the award-winning interpreter, Pitt also carried out verbal abuse and poured alcohol on his family during the flight from France to Los Angeles.

The actor denies the accusations contained in these court documents amid a dispute over the French winery, whose distribution had been included in the divorce agreement of the two actors.

"She continues to redo, revise and reimagine her description of an event that occurred six years ago, adding completely false information every time she doesn't get what she wants," a source close to the actor told the BBC. "Her story of her is constantly evolving," the source added.

Accusations

The incident was investigated at the time by the FBI in 2016. However, the authorities ultimately decided not to press charges.

Jolie's legal team filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles on Tuesday in response to an ongoing lawsuit between the two actors over Chateau Miraval SA, a house and vineyard in southern France that the former Hollywood couple bought together.

Pitt argues that he and his ex-wife had agreed not to sell their shares in the winery without each other's permission. Something that Jolie denies and blames Pitt for having ended the negotiations on the purchase of the shares that the actress has on the property.

This led Jolie to accuse him of physically and emotionally abusing her and her six children - ages 8 to 15 at the time - during the private plane flight.

Her lawyers allege the "Fight Club" star began yelling, accusing her of being "too considerate of children."

Shortly into the flight, Pitt "dragged her into the bathroom" from the back of the plane, the lawsuit says. "Pitt grabbed Jolie by the head and jerked her off her, then grabbed her shoulders and jerked her again before shoving her against the bathroom wall," the lawsuit added.

"Pitt then punched the roof of the plane numerous times, causing Jolie to come out of the bathroom."

After one of the boys verbally intervened, Pitt "pounced on her own son," the documents state.

Jolie then "grabbed him from behind to stop him," the lawsuit adds.

"To get Jolie off his back, Pitt threw himself backward on the plane's seats, injuring Jolie in the back and elbow," the court brief continues.

"The children rushed forward and they all valiantly tried to protect themselves. Before finishing, Pitt grabbed one of the children by the neck and punched another in the face."

Jolie's lawyers say she and her children "sat still and quiet under the covers" for the remainder of the flight.

"Pitt would periodically come out of the back of the plane to yell at them and insult them. At one point, he spilled beer on Jolie. At another, he spilled beer and red wine on the children," the file says.

Divorce Agreement

Last year, a judge awarded joint custody of the children to both parents.

The Miraval estate is located in the town of Correns, in southeastern France, and was purchased by the couple for around 25 million euros ($25 million) in 2008.

The stars got married there six years later.

Pitt has now sued Jolie, alleging that her decision to sell his stake in the estate to a Russian oligarch amounted to an attempt to "undermine" his investment and cause "gratuitous damage" to the actor, who had "invested money and sweat in the wine business.

Jolie's lawyers say in her lawsuit that the actress "has done everything possible to prevent her children from reliving the pain Pitt inflicted on the family that day."

They add that her decision to sell her stake in the company was partly because she "felt increasingly uncomfortable about continuing to be involved in an alcohol-related business, given the impact of Pitt's well-known alcohol abuse problem on her family." ". The actor told the New York Times in 2019 that he had joined Alcoholics Anonymous after his split from Mrs. Jolie.
