Socialite Kourtney Kardashian revealed the reasons behind her current tensions with her sister Kim Kardashian. The firstborn of the Kardashian-Jenner clan exposed the causes of her discomfort in the most recent episode of 'The Kardashians, a reality show starring the daughters of businesswoman Kris Jenner. 'She used my marriage as a business opportunity' said Kourtney Kardashian.
In Kourtney’s assessment, Kim used her marriage to musician Travis Barker in May 2022 as a “business opportunity”. The 44-year-old celebrity recalled that she and her husband exchanged rings with looks from the Dolce & Gabbana brand. Shortly thereafter, Kim signed a partnership contract with the brand and launched a collection with her name for the brand.
“My sister used my marriage as a business opportunity,” said Kourtney in conversation with Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, and Kris Jenner.
The socialite believes that Kim approached the brand's businessmen during the ceremony in May last year and took inspiration from the exclusive dress made by the brand's stylists.
"I'm really confused about building this narrative in her head," Kim replied in another excerpt from the show. “Like, I couldn't have been more careful. I said, 'Don't do anything like what she wore to the wedding'".
Kourtney then emphasized: “People think it might be a misunderstanding. It is not. It's about the essence of who she is."
The pieces from Kim's partnership with Dolce & Gabbana were revealed at Paris Fashion Week 2022, with a view to their launch in September 2023. She also became the brand's poster girl, with the presence of her sister Kendall Jenner in some of the rehearsals.
Kourtney and Travis Barker's wedding photos in both Dolce & Gabbana dresses had a media impact valued at $47 million by experts.
Kourtney's wedding was also marked by a speech by Kim that ended up being the target of emphatic criticism on social networks. Her participation in the ceremony was described as "childish" and "uninspired".
Kim said in the speech, “I just wanted to welcome everyone here to Italy for Kourtney and Travis. Seriously, you've brought us into a fairytale, and there really is no love story quite like yours. It's a movie. It's the cutest. You are the best, and we all wish you lots of love and happiness.”
