The actress has gone through various roles, but there is one that she wants more than any other.
Jennifer Lawrence owns an incredible track record. At 32, the actress is an Oscar winner, she has been surprising in independent films and has led a huge globally successful film franchise. Lawrence has played a variety of roles, from a mutant to a Russian spy, and her resume continues to grow with each passing year. But there's always been a role she's had her eye on. The interpreter revealed that she would love to play Bridget Jones, a role played by Renée Zellweger in 2001.
Of course, Lawrence wanting to play Bridget Jones isn't all that surprising to some. After all, Hollywood seems to be in the era of reboots. But strangely, the actress doesn't seem to want to reimagine the iconic character. Instead, she wishes she had played the role in the first place. "I've always wanted to play Bridget Jones, I want that movie to not exist so I can do it," Lawrence told Den of Geek. "I've always felt that way."
But what is it about the character of Bridget Jones that intrigues Lawrence? According to her, it is the feeling of comfort and familiarity that her character and her films generate. Apparently, her films serve as a stimulus. "I say it because it's like that movie that you always put on when you miss home - I know England is not my home, but - whenever you're like 'grrrr' and you put on that movie that you never get tired of seeing, that's it. Bridget Jones to me, so it's very natural for me to be like, I want to be Bridget Jones!"
The actress does not dream of playing specific roles
What other roles does Jennifer Lawrence have in mind? She seems like she is content to leave them to chance. She has never fixed on specific roles. In her place, she has trusted her own instincts about what turns her on and what doesn't. To that,, she attributes the large number of eclectic roles she has played throughout her career.
"She could never have seen any of my roles coming, she could never have predicted any of them, and it's not something I think about," she explained. "I don't daydream that I'm going to play this part or that part, which I think helps because then I'm open to a lot more scripts."
The actress makes sure to pay close attention to the story that she is going to help tell. She also takes potential collaborators very seriously before accepting a role. "I like good scripts, good stories and good directors," she says.
Undoubtedly, her criteria when selecting her roles have worked well for her so far. It will be interesting to see what she does now.
