Billie Lourd, the only daughter of the legendary Carrie Fisher, has made public her dispute with her uncles to defend herself against the controversy of which they were accusing her.
Young actress Billie Lourd lost her mother, Carrie Fisher, and her grandmother, Debbie Reynolds, in a matter of two days in 2016, undoubtedly the most difficult stage of her life.
Lourd, who has had two children since then and has honored her mother with her name, has lived through her grief privately, although she has shared some memories and emotional moments about her "mommy" and her grandmother.
Now Billie has become more serious and tough than ever, publishing a statement against her uncles, that is, her mother's brothers, all as a result of refusing to invite them to the ceremony where Carrie Fisher will have her star at the Hall of Fame. Billie already celebrated Mark Hamill's star in 2018 in an emotional ceremony that you can remember above.
"I have seen the posts and press releases from my mother's brother and sister. I apologize to anyone reading this for feeling the need to publicly defend myself against these family members. But unfortunately, as they have publicly attacked me, I have to respond publicly. The truth is that I did not invite them to the ceremony. And they know why," the actress sharply advances after deciding to speak.
"Days after my mother's death, her brother and sister chose to grieve publicly and monetize her death, doing multiple interviews and selling individual books for a lot of money, with the death of my mother and grandmother as the main theme," Billy assures.
"I found out about this from the press. I was never consulted or considered how it would affect our relationship. The truth of my mother's complicated relationship with her family is known only to me and those who were truly close to her. Although I recognize that they have every right to do what they consider, their actions were painful for me in the most difficult moment of my life, I chose and still choose to deal with their death in a very different way, "he acknowledges.
Her uncles, Todd Fisher, Tricia Leigh Fisher, and Joely Fisher, claimed to be devastated to have been denied an invitation to the event.
"For some wrong and bizarre reason, our niece has decided not to include us in this epic moment in our sister's career. The fact that her only brother and two sisters have been deliberately excluded is very shocking," they stated on Instagram.
But Billie has not hesitated to respond again.
"Your words once again confirm that my instincts were correct. To clarify, there is no 'feud'. We are not related. This has been a conscious decision on my part to break the loop of a way of life that I do not want to be part of part, neither me nor my children", he affirms.
"This moment is about Carrie Fisher and everything she achieved and what she meant to the world. I'm going to focus on that," Lourd concludes.
"he acknowledges. and he affirms.
