Drew Barrymore has announced that she will finally refuse to host the MTV Movie & TV Awards, in solidarity with the Hollywood Writers Guild strike that began this week after failing to reach an improvement agreement with the production companies.
At 48, Drew Barrymore is experiencing a wonderful second act in the industry. After her tough childhood and the problems she experienced as a child star, Drew was able to redirect her path and decades later she is not only one of the most mythical actresses of her generation, but she is also a powerful producer and charismatic presenter of her own show, 'The Drew Barrymore Show'.
Barrymore's naturalness and innocence have become inspiring to fans, as she demonstrates the surreal shaving moment you may remember above. This has ended up turning her show into one of her most popular and consecrating her stage as a presenter.
So much so that she was also recently offered to host the MTV Movie & TV Awards on May 7.
However, now Ella Drew has announced that she has decided to drop out and not feature them in support of the writers' strike that continues to be fought in Hollywood.
"I have listened to the writers, and to truly respect them, I am going to withdraw from presenting the MTV Awards, in solidarity with the strike," announced the actress.
"Everything we celebrate and honor in movies and television is born by its creation. And until a solution is reached, I choose to wait but I will be watching from home and I hope you join in," she reveals in a statement.
"I thank MTV, who has been one of the best partners I've ever worked with, truly. I can't wait to be a part of it next year when I can genuinely celebrate all that MTV has created, which It's a show that allows fans to choose who deserves the awards and it's so inclusive," he added on Instagram.
At the moment MTV has not announced a replacement, but the awards will go ahead with or without a presenter and will air on May 7.
