Tom Cruise does not rest. This is not surprising considering that many of his co-stars have spoken about his dedication to his art, even mentioning that they don't know how he can work so hard without taking a break. And, while some actors like Benedict Cumberbatch and Andrew Garfield have mentioned taking time away from the screen, the 59-year-old icon mentioned in an in-depth interview why he doesn't think about breaks.
The actor is currently promoting the critically acclaimed Top Gun: Maverick (in which he proved to still be the box office king), and in an interview with Bella magazine, he was asked if he really doesn't take time off.
“This is a day off for me because I'm not filming,” the actor mentioned when asked what he likes to do when he's not working. "Now I am resting. I don't have days off." He later added: “Look, I'm lucky, I'm lucky. I've spent my life on movie sets traveling the world which is something I've always wanted to do so it's not work. I'm living the dream." Indeed, Cruise's dream was always to become an actor or an aviator, as he mentioned in another interview. So definitely Top Gun: Maverick was not a complicated job.
But what does Tom Cruise really do in his spare time? Some time ago in an interview, the man said: "I practice kayaking, caving, fencing, walking, weights, climbing, hiking, jogging... I do many different activities", which makes it easier to do his incredible stunts. On the other hand, on the set Cruise does not seem to be left alone during his working hours. He is known for getting involved in the production process and really puts time into each stunt, getting hurt in the process.
On the other hand, in the short time he spends off-set, he keeps his privacy very tight, so not much is known about his other hobbies or interests, if any. His addiction to his work is undoubtedly one of the reasons why he stays on top. In fact, shortly after the premiere of Maverick, the trailer for the next Mission Impossible film was released, a franchise that will not end anytime soon, it seems.
