Paul Verhoeven, the director of "Basic Instinct," has denied the allegations made by Sharon Stone regarding the filming of the movie's explicit scene.
In her recently released memoir, "The Beauty of Living Twice," Stone claimed that she was tricked into the infamous interrogation scene and was not informed about a full-frontal shot being included in the film. She also mentioned slapping the director during the filming process.
Responding to Stone's claims in an interview with Deadline, Verhoeven dismissed the notion of being slapped, calling it "nonsense" and challenging her version of events. He clarified that he and Stone currently have a good relationship and explained, "I would put [that story] in the category of 'My memory is this, and your memory is that.'"
Verhoeven further stated that Stone was aware of the backstory behind the scene in question. Although the scene was not initially part of the script, Verhoeven discussed it with Stone and incorporated it into the film. He acknowledged that Stone's recollection may differ from his, but he maintained that his version of events is accurate.
In her memoir, Stone made several startling revelations about being coerced into relations with her male co-stars by producers and filmmakers.
Verhoeven's response adds another perspective to the controversy surrounding the filming of the explicit scene in "Basic Instinct," highlighting the differences in recollection between the director and the actress.
