In a recent interview, Jennifer Lawrence candidly discussed her experience of stripping down for a particular scene in her new film, "Red Sparrow."
The actress, known for her previous remarks about feeling the need to be "very very drunk" during scenes in "Passengers," revealed that she has grown more at ease with on-screen since then.
Lawrence shared that there is a scene in "Red Sparrow" where her childhood nightmare becomes a reality: standing n-ked in front of a classroom full of people. Despite her initial nervousness, the actress expressed that the experience wasn't as bad as she had anticipated, crediting the supportive crew for making her feel comfortable.
However, Lawrence humorously admitted that she may have become a little too comfortable during the filming process. She joked about declining the robe, stating that she felt hot and wanted to eat, which might have made others uncomfortable, prompting them to insist she cover-up.
In the film, Lawrence embraces her first foreign role, portraying a former Russian prima ballerina who undergoes training at a sparrow school to become an intelligence spy. Reflecting on her initial impression of playing a ballerina, Lawrence confessed that it seemed laughable until she dedicated four months to training, allowing her to move her arms with some proficiency.
Addressing her portrayal of a foreign accent alongside her British co-star Joel Edgerton, who plays an American CIA agent in the film, Lawrence opted to keep the details under wraps until the movie's release. She expressed a desire to avoid potential criticism by preemptively discussing the challenges and successes she faced in perfecting the accent.
In addition to her film-related conversation, the 27-year-old actress announced her plans to take a year-long break from acting to focus on activism. Lawrence revealed her involvement with Represent.Us, an organization dedicated to engaging young people in local-level politics and combatting corruption. She clarified that her activism work would not align with partisan politics but rather concentrate on anti-corruption initiatives and democracy reform. As for her future acting endeavors, Lawrence stated that she is uncertain of what lies ahead.
