Nicolas Cage looks unrecognizable in the first images of Dream Scenario, his new film produced by A24 that will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
The actor Nicolas Cage has surprised with his impressive physical change for the role he will play in his new film. This Wednesday, the production company A24 and the Toronto International Film Festival shared an image of Cage, 59, playing his character in the film Dream Scenario.
The film will have its world premiere at the opening of the Toronto International Film Festival's Platform Program next month. Cage appears in a parking lot and is totally bald, with a bushy gray beard and glasses. Festival director Robyn Citizen described the film as a "surreal satire-comedy" in a press release.
“We are delighted to present this year's extraordinary films on the Platform program, and especially delighted to present Kristoffer Borgli's latest film, Dream Scenario, starring Nicolas Cage, as the opening film,” Citizen announced in a statement.
He then added that the film "has sharp and timely observations on social media culture, especially 'going viral,' and its impact on the way we interact with others in our everyday lives. Cage delivers some of his best work he added to the Academy Award winner's performance in the new film, which will be his fifth big-screen appearance so far this year.
Little else is known about the new film from Cage, from writer/director Kristoffer Borgli and producer Ari Aster. The A24 website confirmed Michael Cera and Julianne Nicholson in the cast of the film alongside Cage. The cast also includes Dylan Baker, Tim Meadows, Dylan Gelula, and Kate Berlant, among other actors.
Cage's starring role in Dream Scenario follows his starring roles in Renfield, The Old Way, and Sympathy, for the Devil, three other films that were released this year. He also made a brief cameo as a strange version of Superman in the movie The Flash.
The actor also recently revealed that he would be happy to work with Owen Wilson after Wilson, 54, mentioned him as his dream co-star. Cage, for his part, assured that Wilson is a "magnificent talent." "I've admired him since he appeared in Bottle Rocket," Cage said.
