To maintain the secrecy of their relationship, Prince Harry revealed that his initial encounter with Meghan Markle took place in a London supermarket.
Their first date was far from an elegant dinner or a movie theater; instead, Prince Harry and his now-wife Meghan Markle chose to meet in a supermarket. This revelation came during an interview on the "Armchair Expert" podcast, hosted by Dax Shepard.
During this covert rendezvous, aimed at evading the press, the couple arranged to meet in a London supermarket. They pretended not to know each other and communicated via text messages while discreetly wandering the store's aisles.
Prince Harry recounted how he received "curious glances" from people who recognized him and approached him to say hello. Perplexed by the situation, he asked Meghan Markle if he was in the right aisle. Her response was, "No, you want parchment paper," indicating the section where she was waiting for him.
Sporting a baseball cap and avoiding eye contact with others, Prince Harry tried to remain incognito, noting humorously, "It's incredible how much gum you see; it's a disaster!"
The royal couple first crossed paths in 2016 and, two years later, tied the knot in a private ceremony before their official wedding, which occurred three days later. Currently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reside in the United States with their son Archie and are expecting a baby girl.
In the same interview with Dax Shepard, Prince Harry elaborated on the reasons behind his move with Meghan Markle to Canada and subsequently to California in the United States, where they currently live and pursue new projects.
According to the Duke of Sussex, the decision to relocate was driven by a desire to break the cycle of "pain and suffering" that had afflicted his family due to their exposure to the media throughout his childhood, owing to their royal status.
Prince Harry expressed his determination to break this cycle, especially in terms of parenting. He emphasized the importance of shielding his own children from the pain and suffering that had been passed down through generations.
Acknowledging that there is often a genetic legacy of pain and suffering, Prince Harry asserted, "As parents, we should do everything we can to try to say, 'You know what, that happened to me, I'm going to make sure that doesn't happen to you.'"
Prince Harry also reflected on his father's upbringing, recognizing that Prince Charles faced challenges growing up in the royal family. He acknowledged that his father had treated him the way he himself had been treated, which led him to question how he could change that for his own children. As a result, Prince Harry made the decision to move his entire family to the United States.
