Before the publication of his book, the Duke of Sussex gave two television interviews in which he did not hold back anything about his conflictive relationship with the British royal family.
The British monarchy finds itself at the center of the storm thanks to the explosive revelations made by Prince Harry. Just hours after the publication of his memoirs In the Shadow (Spare), the Duke of Sussex gave two interviews that served to throw fuel on the fire of what already promises to be one of the biggest sc@nd@ls of the year.
Over the weekend, two interviews Harry gave to the press were broadcast. One to American television by Anderson Cooper for the program 60 Minutes, and the other to British television, which was made by journalist Tom Bradby and was broadcast on the ITV signal.
The truth is that the prince left no issue untouched and so far none of the members of the British royal family have managed to emerge unscathed. In both reports, Harry accused his family of leaking information to the tabloids and media; how the loss of his mother at the age of 12 affected him; and the distributions that he and his brother had against his father's marriage to Camilla, the now queen consort.
1. Some members of the royal family are "abusers"
One of the most surprising accusations from the interviews given by Prince Harry points to the behavior of certain members of the Crown, which he refers to as "abusers."
"I'm not sure how honesty is burning bridges. You know, silence only allows the abuser to abuse. So I don't know how staying silent will make things better," Harry said about the need to break the silence and tell his truth and Meghan's.
2. The death of his mother and the subsequent impact on his life
One of the most traumatic moments in Harry's life was, without a doubt, the death of his mother. The death of Lady Di not only left the entire world speechless but also William and Harry, who at the time were 15 and 12 years old respectively.
During the interview, Harry revealed how he found out about his mother's death. The duke said that it was his father who told him the sad news.
Another of the prince's confessions is that for much of his life, he had problems accepting the death of his mother. He even went on to reveal that for years he lived in the hope that the loss of her mother was part of a plan devised by her that would one day lead to her return.
"For a while, and then she would call us and we would go meet her, yes," Harry responded, adding that he lived with that belief for years.
At the same time, he acknowledged that for years he sought evidence of the accident from his mother. "Proof that she was in the car. Proof that she was hurt. And proof that the same paparazzi that chased her through the tunnel were the ones that were taking pictures, pictures of her half dead in the back seat of the car," Harry said.
3. Camilla, one of the villains of history
According to the youngest son of King Charles III, his relationship with his stepmother has not been the easiest and everything seems to indicate that he never will be.
Days ago, one of the passages from the book became known in which Harry claimed that he and his brother begged his father not to marry Camilla. During interviews aired over the weekend, Harry revealed the reasons behind his remarks.
The Duke of Sussex assures that Camilla, identified as the third party in the marriage of Charles and Lady Di, was one of the people who began to leak information to the press.
As he told Anderson Cooper, it was after a conversation that he, William, and Camilla had privately in the late 90s that the leak began. According to Harry, the queen consort needed to "rehabilitate" her image, and because of her connection to the media, she is a "dangerous" figure.
4. She did not have the opportunity to say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II
During the interview with Anderson Cooper, Harry revealed that he was not invited to be part of the flight that several family members took from London to Balmoral to say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II.
The prince stated that before her grandmother's death, he contacted William to try to arrange the details for her to visit her at Balmoral since they knew that her health was very deteriorated and she would not live much longer.
A few hours later, the duke learned that several members of the family, those who lived around Windsor and Ascot, took a private flight to say goodbye to the monarch. According to Harry, he was not invited, and by the time he arrived, the queen had already died.
