Brian Cox and the problem that the success of Succession brought him

Nobody denies that for an actor's career, participating in a successful series is one of the greatest achievements they can aspire to. And even more so if it is one like Succession, which had an unusual global impact, becoming one of the best in history.

But of course, that also brings certain unintended consequences. That is precisely what Brian Cox, one of the protagonists of the HBO series, who plays Logan Roy, the patriarch of the dynasty and who tries to enforce his succession plan for when he is no longer here, admitted.

In a recent interview, the actor acknowledged that the success of Succession brought him excessive fame, which caused the "loss of anonymity." In a talk with the English newspaper The Guardian, Cox confessed: "I have never experienced anything like this. You ask for success in your job, and you get it, but then you have to deal with the consequences. I always valued my privacy, but that no longer exists ".

The strangest thing about this statement is that it comes from someone who is 77 years old, with a 50-year career, and who, although he did not have major protagonists, was part of the cast of films such as Braveheart, The Orchid Thief, X-Men 2 , Troy or Her. In fact, he was the first actor to step into the shoes of Hannibal Lecter, for the 1986 film Manhunter.

It is evident then that what happened with Succession, from its first broadcast back in 2018, until its outcome released in May of this year, does not compare with anything that has previously happened in his career. This undeniably proves the success of the production created by Jesse Armstrong, and which was produced by HBO.

With 39 episodes divided into 4 seasons, the series tells the internal problems of the Roy family, led by Brian Cox's character, Logan, who is the owner of one of the largest audiovisual media and entertainment conglomerates in the world. The conception of the characters along with their fights and selfishness transformed the last season into one of the audiovisual phenomena of the year. And Brian Cox lived it, unfortunately for the worse.
