Both actors, who also participated together in the successful Netflix series, had a relationship for more than three years... but during the pandemic the news of their breakup became known.
Although at first they were just set partners, Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse ended up being much more than friends. One of the most acclaimed relationships among young audiences was born thanks to the chemistry that both had when recording “Riverdale”, the successful Netflix series that premiered in January 2017.
As time went by, it became increasingly evident that there was something more between the two, especially since their Instagram posts exposed them a bit.
Given the success that “Riverdale” had among young audiences, the controversy over the then “supposed” relationship that Reinhart and Sprouse had was based solely on rumors, since neither of them had denied or confirmed their romance.
By 2017, the year in which the series premiered, several promotional events were held in which both were present, and it was there that fans realized that there was no doubt... it was a reality, they were both together. They gave each other tender glances and were very affectionate towards each other, something that was inevitable for them.
But it was not until 2018 when they both confirmed their relationship while they were on vacation together in Hawaii, and some time later they appeared together on the Met Gala red carpet that same year. “Lili was a difficult egg to crack. At first she is very shy, reserved, and I think it was halfway through the first season that she started to really let people in,” the actor said in an interview with Glamor.
Although everything seemed to be fine, with the arrival of the pandemic at the beginning of 2020 things began to change between the two, or so they let their fans see. It was thanks to a post on Cole's Instagram that the whole world found out what was happening, and it was not good for the followers of the acclaimed couple.
“Lili and I initially separated in January of this year, we decided to separate permanently in March. What an amazing experience I had, I will always feel lucky and appreciate that I had the opportunity to fall in love. I wish you nothing but the utmost love and happiness. That's all I'll say, whatever you hear doesn't matter," the actor wrote in August last year, putting an end to rumors about the breakup and confirming that the fairytale romance had come to an end.
