Priyanka Chopra revealed the reason she left Bollywood, I felt cornered

Priyanka Chopra revealed why she left her native Bollywood industry in India and decided to start over in America to become a new Hollywood star. This week, Ella Chopra was on the American Podcast 'Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard' and she talked about the reasons why she left that industry.

“They were cornering me. There were people who didn't choose me for reasons... I had problems with people. “She was tired of politics and felt like she needed a break,” she told Dax Shepard and Monica Padman, hosts of the show.

Priyanka's breakthrough came in the form of a music career in the United States in 2011, when she signed Universal Music Group to a worldwide recording deal with DesiHits. As part of the contract, she established that her first studio album would be released by Interscope Records in North America and by Island Records in the rest of the world.

The actress and singer also expressed that her foray into music gave her new possibilities to get to know other parts of the world, although taking a risk as a singer required her to take the leap to start again in another industry. “I had worked for a long time, at that point, and I didn't feel like I wanted to do it, but when the opportunity came I thought 'I'm going to go to the United States' and it was incredible.”

Since then, Priyanka Chopra Jonas has worked with Pitbull, Will.i.am, RedOne, among other artists in the music industry, so in the interview she indicated that she has felt “living the dream.”

As an actress, she has also been able to participate in productions such as ABC's 'Quantico', which has been her most notable participation on North American television. In the Canadian series, Chopra points out that for those who knew her history in Indian cinema, it was curious to note the type of work she was doing in this new stage of her professional life.

“I knew what the tone of the show was and I worked with an acting coach. When I got the role, I realized what I needed. “I took up small roles because I had to build my filmography in English, although many who knew me from my Indian film days wondered why I went to Hollywood to do small roles and B-grade films,” she added.

The actress assured that her next step is within the Amazon Prime Video series Citadel, which is based on a global espionage organization and will feature Indian representation, as is the case with her character.

In addition, Chopra Jonas has had a growing career in Hollywood, in which she has been part of important films such as “Baywatch”, “The Matrix Resurrections”, the next installment of the romantic film “Love Again” and the television series espionage drama “Citadel”, which will premiere on April 28.
