The director of photography died by accident when she was shot with an apparently blank pistol, which had real ammunition, and it was the actor who shot her on set.
The tragic death of Halyna Hutchins has given a lot to talk about. Her husband Matt expressed her feelings through his social networks and met with actor Alec Baldwin.
Matthew Hutchins and his wife had been married for 16 years and were living with his son in Santa Fe, where the accident occurred.
The husband of Halyna Hutchins, the woman who died on Thursday from an accidental shooting by actor Alec Baldwin on the set of the feature film Rust, wrote on his networks for the first time since the tragic event. He did it with three images and a few short lines.
In the photographs, Matt is with his wife and in others with his 9-year-old son, Andros.
“We miss you, Halyna!” he wrote in his post. It was filled with words of support and blessings.
In an interview with The New York Post, Matt Hutchins clarified, “I've talked to Alec Baldwin a lot and he's been very supportive,” he said.
International media shared photographs where the now widower met with the actor.
For the moment and until what happened is clarified, filming will be suspended while the investigation progresses. “The entire cast and crew have been absolutely devastated by the tragedy,” said a spokesperson for production company Rust Movies Productions LLC.
Halyna's father, Anatoly Androsovych, spoke to The Sun and said that he does not blame Alec Baldwin for what happened but rather the team in charge of the prop weapons. “Matthew will decide if he will take legal action,” the man reported. “We can't believe Halyna has died,” he added with deep pain.
