Victoria Justice seeks to mature in the cinema

Victoria Justice is on a quest for cinematic maturity, distancing herself from the adolescent profile that gained her popularity through the Nickelodeon series, Victorious.

Victoria Justice seeks to mature in the cinema

Despite the challenges, she has successfully evolved over the years, breaking away from the teen image that defined her early career.

At the age of 17, Victoria took center stage in Victorious, leading to albums, international tours, consecutive Kid Choice Awards for Favorite Series, and four Emmy nominations. Reflecting on that period, she acknowledges the inevitability of outgrowing her teenage roles, stating, "I can't be a teenager all my life, unfortunately for me."

In a recent interview with El Sol de México, Victoria discusses her shift towards more complex characters. She shares her excitement about embracing diverse roles, particularly highlighting her involvement in Trust, a film directed by Brian DeCubellis, now available in digital stores.

Victoria portrays Brooke, a sophisticated New York gallery owner, facing substantial challenges in the romantic drama. She emphasizes her attraction to characters that spark post-viewing conversations, describing Trust as a story that requires viewers to piece together the intricate relationships.

The narrative unfolds as Brooke grapples with a dilemma—accompanying a famous model to Paris after rejecting her boyfriend's invitation for a vacation in the same city. The ensuing tension with her partner, Owen (Matthew Daddario), prompts both characters to blindly trust each other and the foundation of their love.

For Victoria, this career transition represents a welcome maturity that she shares with her audience, who initially knew her from Victorious. She finds joy in witnessing her audience grow alongside her, resonating with more mature characters and drawing parallels with their own lives.

Trust, based on the play Push by Kristen Lazarian, explores the dynamics of a Manhattan couple whose seemingly perfect life is disrupted by unforeseen events. Director and screenwriter Brian DeCubellis emphasizes the tension between the facade of perfection and the couple's underlying insecurities, influencing creative decisions like the color palette and clothing.

Filmed just before the pandemic, Trust features a cast including Matthew Daddario, Katherine McNamara, and Lucien Laviscount. The film is now available for sale and rental on various digital platforms.
