Queen Elizabeth II and the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, would have argued over an accessory that the actress wanted to wear at her wedding with Prince Harry.
Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, continues to reveal details of the English crown in his biography In the Shadow. With only four days of its launch, the writing continues to attract the attention of the world press, as it has unpublished information about the past of the youngest son of King Charles III, the royal family and his marriage to actress Meghan Markle.
Although in the book, Lady Di's youngest son has told several not very good anecdotes about royalty, with versions that would leave a bad image of some of its members such as William, Prince of Wales, successor to the British throne, Harry has also denied other accusations against the monarchy that, according to him, are not true.
What really happened between Queen Elizabeth II and Meghan Markle?
One of the most famous events, prior to Harry and Meghan's wedding, held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, was the rumored meeting between the queen and the American that would have ended in discussion.
What the British press said at the time was that "The Queen warned Prince Harry about Meghan's 'difficult' behavior after a dispute over the tiara for the royal wedding," wrote journalist Dan Wootton for The Sun. “Meghan wanted a tiara that had emeralds in it and neither she nor Harry were happy when they were told that her first choice was impossible as no one knew exactly where it came from. There were concerns that she was an originally Russian tiara. There was a very heated exchange which led to the Queen speaking to Harry. She told him: 'Meghan can't have everything she wants. She receives the tiara that I gave her,'” the article says.
In his book, the prince denies the situation and tells his version of events. Everything would have happened in the Queen's private dressing room and only five people were present: Elizabeth II, an expert jeweler, Angela Kelly, the Queen's personal assistant, Meghan and Harry. “There were five tiaras laid out and Grandma told Meg to try them on in front of the full-length mirror. I stayed behind, watching. An era all of emeralds. Another of aquamarines. Each new tiara was more superb and dazzling than the previous […] However, of the five, one stood out above the others. Everyone agreed. There were five tiaras pre-selected by the Queen and her advisors and among those five Meghan chose one that was the perfect option for everyone. That tiara was always from the beginning the one we all ultimately saw: Queen Mary's platinum and diamond bandeau tiara,” she wrote. From the meeting, Harry said, everyone left satisfied with a unanimous selection. Elizabeth II herself advised Meghan to “Try to practice how to put it on.”
