Meghan and Harry's Revelations on Racism, Mental Health, and Royal Disconnect

Racism, lack of support, and financial struggles took center stage in Oprah Winfrey's interview with Meghan and Harry, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan and Harry's Revelations on Racism, Mental Health, and Royal Disconnect

The revelations shed light on the couple's emotional turmoil, financial difficulties, and strained ties with the royal family.

Previously undisclosed details about Meghan's mental health came to light during the CBS interview. While Harry has openly discussed mental health and grief, Meghan shared her struggles, admitting that her royal life had driven her to contemplate suicide.

She revealed feeling hesitant to confess her thoughts to Harry but ultimately disclosed, "I just didn't want to be alive." Meghan recounted seeking hospital care and being denied, with a senior royal citing potential harm to the institution.

The interview reinforced Harry and Meghan's commitment to addressing mental health challenges, signaling their intent to continue similar advocacy work outside the royal family.

A significant revelation concerned the incessant racist attacks Meghan faced from the media. The couple pointed out racially insensitive comments in tabloids and suggested race influenced the royal family's decision not to grant their son, Archie, a title or security protection.

Meghan shared a shocking conversation about concerns regarding the darkness of Archie's skin during her pregnancy.

The lack of support from Harry's family during difficult times became evident. Meghan emphasized Harry as her sole support in the palace, indicating insufficient assistance from the royal family when needed.

The image of Prince Charles leading Meghan to the altar at Harry and Meghan's wedding, once a symbol of familial unity, now contrasts sharply with Harry's revelation that his father avoided his calls and preferred written communication when they considered stepping back from royal duties.

Although Harry mentioned reconciliation with Charles, he expressed feeling let down, drawing parallels with his mother, Princess Diana's, media harassment.

While Prince William was scarcely discussed, Harry mentioned an "empty" current relationship. Both Harry and Meghan made distinctions between Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family, displaying a change in tone when referring to other family members, particularly Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince Charles.
