Prince Harry Opens Up on Brotherly Conflict and Palace Controversies in Netflix Documentary

In the Netflix documentary "Harry and Meghan," the Duke of Sussex sheds light on the tumultuous meeting that determined their trajectory within the British Royal House.

The second part of the "Harry and Meghan" documentary, released by Netflix, delves into the challenges faced by Prince Harry in negotiating his departure from the royal family with King Charles III and Prince William in January 2020. The film also highlights the perceived lack of support from the royal family towards Meghan Markle amidst negative media coverage.

Recalling the pivotal meeting held on January 13, 2020, in Sandringham, Prince Harry discloses that despite proposing several options, his decision to achieve financial independence while fulfilling public commitments was met with opposition. He describes the ordeal of his brother yelling at him and his father making false statements, with Queen Elizabeth II silently absorbing the tension.

From the family's perspective, especially the queen's, the prince acknowledges that there are established protocols and responsibilities tied to the institution, emphasizing the complexities faced during the meeting.

The documentary's second part begins with historical footage of Queen Elizabeth II's 1947 wedding and the positive reception of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during their own wedding in 2018. However, the narrative shifts after the couple's successful tour in 2018, with Prince Harry suggesting a fear within the family that they could outperform higher-ranking members of the institution.

Meghan Markle details her struggles with the Royal House's restrictions and the suppression of her actions. She discloses grappling with suicidal thoughts. The documentary implies that negative stories about the couple were deliberately circulated to divert attention from other royal family members' less favorable coverage.

Meghan Markle's lawyer, Jenny Afia, asserts that she possesses evidence contradicting information released by the palace regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Prince Harry claims the palace prevented him from seeing his grandmother during a visit to the UK, accusing the Royal House of being willing to fabricate information to shield Prince William from accusations.

Expressing dissatisfaction, Prince Harry reveals the palace's attempt to coerce him into signing an official statement denying Prince William's alleged harassing behavior, accusing the institution of choosing falsehoods over truth for three years. Buckingham Palace has not issued a statement on the documentary, released ahead of Prince Harry's upcoming autobiography in January.
