Birmingham MP Jess Phillips Exposed Meghan Markle's Children as Borrowed

Meghan Markle has ignited a response with her comments during her visit to Nigeria, which a royal expert has deemed "laughable."

Birmingham MP Jess Phillips Exposed Meghan Markle's Children as Borrowed

The Duchess of Sussex was in Nigeria with Prince Harry last weekend. The couple participated in various charity events and visited a school in Aja supported by the Royal Foundation. While addressing the pupils at Lightwe Academy, Meghan shared an anecdote about her daughter, Lilibet.

"Our daughter Lili, she's much, much tinier than you guys," Meghan said. She continued, "She's about to turn three, and a few weeks ago, she looked at me and saw her reflection in my eyes and said, 'Mama, I see me in you,'" as reported by The Mirror. Meghan elaborated, "Now, she was speaking quite literally, but I took those words to heart in a different way. I thought, 'Yeah, I do see me in you, and you see me in you.'" She concluded her speech by expressing, "As I look around this room, I see myself in all of you as well."

Labor MP from Birmingham, Jess Phillips, reacted to Meghan's claims, stating that she would take a child to see a psychiatrist if her daughter said what Lili reportedly said. Jess Phillips, appearing on the comedic news show "Have I Got News For You," expressed disbelief over Meghan's anecdote. Jess, a prominent Labor frontbencher who might become a top government minister, is based in Birmingham, where the Invictus Games are planned to be held in 2027.

Jason, another panelist on the show, mentioned that Harry and Meghan went on a three-day trip to Nigeria, as reported by the Daily Mail. He humorously noted that all anyone could talk about was Meghan's dramatically long hair. Jess responded, "Is that what you guys have been chatting about this week?" Jason quipped, "Yeah, the people of Birmingham hardly speak of little else." The panel continued to discuss Meghan's motivational speech to the students, with Ian interjecting, "She said her daughter Lilibet told her, 'When I look at you, I see you and me,' which is quite advanced for a two-year-old."

Jason read the quote again, "A few weeks ago, she looked at me and saw the reflection in my eyes and said, 'Mama, I see me in you.' She was speaking literally, but I hung on to those words and thought, 'Yeah, I do see me in you.' But as I look around this room, I see myself in all of you as well." The discussion was met with laughter from the audience. Jess added, "The idea that a two-year-old would say that is a bit far-fetched. If she didn't say it, you should take your kid to see a psychiatrist. What's wrong with them?"

Meanwhile, royal commentator Maureen Callahan expressed skepticism about Meghan's story, considering Lilibet's young age. On GB News, Maureen commented, "Meghan Markle told the story with a straight face. What's the point of this trip if she spends the whole time talking about herself? It's laughable. Meghan has no understanding of children; it's been clear from the start. They don't have a clue about babies and young kids. Remember the various versions of Archie's first words? Grandma, Diana, crocodile, waffle, hydrate—it's more likely that Markle read it somewhere and twisted it to fit her narrative. She probably thought it was clever to say, 'I see me in you,' to her Nigerian sisters. Meghan is so transparently self-centered, she couldn't even stick to her fantastical child story without making it about herself."
