Comedians David Spade and Dana Carvey have recently taken jabs at Meghan Markle, with the Hollywood community joining in on the laughter.
The legendary Saturday Night Live alumni, Dana Carvey, is back at work co-hosting a podcast with his friend and fellow SNL star, David Spade. In a new podcast episode, they explained why now was the right time for their return.
In this episode, the duo mocked Meghan Markle's new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard Jelly. David Spade humorously remarked, "Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have a new company, and it's called something very non-ostentatious, shall we say? Oh yeah, it’s American Riviera Orchard Jelly." Dana Carvey quipped in response, "That's a mouthful, and I'm not talking about the jelly either." Spade continued, "You know what? I think an easier one is 'That’s My Jam.' Not bad, right?" Carvey joked further, "That's all right. I would have named it 'They Hate Me Because I'm Mixed Race Jelly.'" Spade added, "They hate me because I'm kind of a princess jelly." Carvey then mocked, "They wouldn't give me a therapist when I needed a jelly." Spade said, "I was on Suits, then I was a princess. I could be on a Suits reboot right now, which is my idea." Spade also suggested that Meghan should return to Suits to make a killing, while Carvey agreed, suggesting she should host Deal or No Deal, humorously adding, "Hey, I'm ready to do Deal or No Deal jelly."
Their mockery continued with the scenario of Meghan hosting Deal or No Deal again, but this time with a twist involving Prince Harry. Spade humorously envisioned, "I’m going to walk in like it’s Shark Tank and say, 'Hey sharks, Meghan and Harry here. What if you’re driving down the 405 and starving with a bagel? Wouldn’t you like to pull out some traffic jam?'"
This isn't the first time David Spade has roasted Meghan Markle. About a year ago, he made several jokes about her on his podcast, hinting that he knew about her pre-Harry life and wasn't impressed.
The mockery by these famous comedians underscores a broader sentiment in Hollywood, reflecting skepticism towards Meghan Markle's public endeavors. The revelations come amid reports that Meghan Markle is reportedly distressed over the harsh criticism of her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. Announced in March, the brand initially teased fans with vague details, but interest soon waned due to a lack of further information. This led Meghan to prepare for a significant PR campaign to boost her image before the official launch.
Meghan's spokesperson, Tom Quinn, indicated that she was devastated by the tepid reception and criticism of her new jam, particularly its high price and perceived lack of uniqueness. Quinn explained that Meghan feels unfairly targeted and criticized, believing that her efforts should be more appreciated. He noted that Meghan feels misunderstood, thinking her titles alone should garner admiration, but realizing that public perception doesn't work that way. The unfavorable portrayal of her on South Park and continuous mockery by Hollywood only amplify her struggles, painting her in an increasingly unflattering light.
