Allegations from the team of Dwayne Johnson's latest film have accused the actor of being to blame for the film's delays and causing problems during filming.
Dwayne Johnson, one of Hollywood's most beloved and close stars, has now become the center of controversy with accusations from several workers on the set of his latest film.
According to these sources, who wanted to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals, The Rock is to blame for having considerably delayed his new film, Red One.
Initially delays were alleged due to the Hollywood strike, but as this The Wrap exclusive revealed, "the reality is much murkier."
According to multiple sources who worked on the Amazon project, there were problems with its star, Dwayne Johnson, which forced the Christmas movie to be delayed almost an entire year, until November 2024.
"Johnson was chronically seven, eight hours late to set," they say, a shocking statement for someone who has built a reputation for being "always the hardest worker" and his work ethic.
"That meant that the team had to try to shoot around his character in a few days," they add.
As those familiar with the industry know, delays in filming can translate into million-dollar costs by stopping production.
"He raised the budget by $50 million," say Red One workers. "The only thing Dwayne was constant about was constantly being late."
"It was a f--king disaster," another tells the outlet.
Although they mention the rumors that have circulated for years that Johnson boasted of having "such intense workouts" that he used to make them wait at fan events or sets, they also point to other reasons such as his other commitments with his Young Rock series, or his tour of Black Adam promotion. A spokesperson for Amazon and Johnson's production company, however, has denied all allegations.
This situation has also brought to light similar problems on the set of Red Alert, the Netflix film with Ryan Reynolds. Ryan was allegedly bothered by Johnson's unprofessionalism and having to wait for him, and they ended up having fights on set.
The fact of filming with the regulations and restrictions of the pandemic, since it was during 2021, did not help the "tensions" either, as explained by another source. Although Page Six reported that those differences were already "water behind us" for the stars.
His problems on the set of Fast and Furious and with Vin Diesel have also been well known over the years, which could now be seen in a different light based on these allegations.
