Reports have emerged suggesting that Prince Harry was brought to tears once again as he received support from Princess Diana's family amidst the ongoing tensions within the royal family.
According to a former royal butler, Diana's family has rallied behind Harry during his conflict with the royals, a rift exacerbated by his recent explosive allegations against them. Despite Harry's strained relationship with the royal institution, his recent visit to the UK lacked any formal meetings with his family members.
However, it is reported that Earl Charles Spencer and Lady Jane Fellowes, Diana's siblings, offered their backing to Harry during this challenging time. Earl Spencer had previously vowed to support Harry during Diana's funeral, emphasizing that their family would always provide spiritual and emotional protection to Harry and his brother, Prince William.
During his recent visit to London, Harry avoided interactions with any royal family members. There were rumors of him intending to meet his father, King Charles, but the monarch was reportedly too busy to see his son. Furthermore, Harry made no efforts to reconcile with his now estranged brother, William. Former royal butler Paul Burrell suggested that Diana would be heartbroken if she knew the extent of the feud within the royal family.
In his chat with B Magazine, Paul revealed that the feud probably wouldn't have initiated had Diana been alive. He explained, "She would have seen this starting and would have stopped it. She would have made Harry apologize to Charles and acted as a broker. She was always the peacemaker. It broke her heart when the family disintegrated." Paul further commented that without Diana to intervene, the situation seems like a lost cause.
Royal commentator Tom Quinn has suggested that Earl Spencer and Lady Jane Fellowes have demonstrated their loyalties by attending Harry's Invictus Games event earlier this month. Speaking to the Mirror, Quinn noted that the Spencer family has always felt uncomfortable with the royal family after the death of Harry and William's mother.
Earl Spencer, Diana's brother, was openly critical of the way the royal family treated his sister, and that criticism largely centered on Prince Charles, as he then was. Quinn stated that there is still a lot of bitterness around and said the Spencers' decision to support Harry was significant. "The fact that the Spencers were out in force for Harry on this visit speaks volumes about where their loyalties lie," he said. "Like Harry, the Spencers still see the royal family, to some extent, as the enemy." However, it is believed that Earl Spencer only attended Harry's Invictus Games service to promote his new book.
Earl Spencer had previously vowed to stand by Harry's side, stating at Diana's funeral that their blood family would always protect Harry and William spiritually and emotionally. Despite this, Harry didn't meet with any of the royal family during his time in London. While there were rumors he was supposed to meet his father, King Charles, it was reported that the monarch was too busy. This narrative is often twisted to make Harry look like the victim. In reality, King Charles had actually accepted the offer for Harry to stay with him, but Harry declined. There have been no plans for Harry to meet with William, from whom he is now estranged.
