The legal battle between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie continuing 5 years after their divorce

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were the most important couple in Hollywood for several years until they divorced amid a scandal in 2019. Things did not end well between them and the legal dispute between them is far from over.

Currently, Pitt faces complications not only with his wine business, but also in the family sphere, marked by recent legal and personal conflicts.

The dispute over the custody of his children with Angelina Jolie has spread, affecting the possibility of a shared custody agreement. Except for Knox, all of the children have chosen to remove the Pitt surname from their identities in various ways, with Shiloh being the last to follow this trend when she turned 18 on May 27.

Shiloh formally began the process to legally disassociate herself from her last name, becoming the first to do so officially. A previous case is that of her brother Pax de ella, who already in 2020 publicly showed his distancing from her through social networks. These episodes highlight a pattern of personal estrangement that seems to be consolidated among the young members of the family.

Since one specific incident, which caught the attention of the FBI although it did not lead to formal charges against Pitt, the actor has not been seen publicly with any of his children. Most of the information about these events comes from leaks linked to the corresponding investigations.

According to reports, before taking a private flight between France and California, Brad and his son Maddox (15 years old at the time) began to argue, which escalated. Faced with this situation, Angelina came out to defend her son, something that Pitt did not like, accusing her of being overprotective.

Already on the plane, the actor, far from calming down, locked Angelina in the plane's bathroom and pushed her against the wall, "he grabbed her and shook her head," and intimidated her by punching the wall. When she came out she was pale and her children, with a worried look, asked her if she was okay. Six days after the incident, Jolie filed for divorce in court in Los Angeles. A divorce that was consummated in 2019, but with a situation involved that is still far from resolved.

On August 23, 2014, in an intimate ceremony at the Château Miraval, located in the south of France, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt married in front of family and close friends. This property, acquired in 2008, not only witnessed their union, but also became a symbol of their relationship.

The situation took a turn in 2016 after an incident on a plane, which led Angelina to file for divorce. Although they were declared legally separated in 2019, disputes over child custody and shared assets persist. In 2021, Judge John Ouderkirk initially granted joint custody to Pitt, a decision that was revoked after a conflict of interest between the judge and Pitt's lawyer was demonstrated. This ruling was upheld by the California Supreme Court, returning full custody to Jolie.

On an international flight in 2016, Angelina accused Brad of physically and verbally attacking her and her children, which was investigated by the FBI and the Department of Children and Family Services, without resulting in charges against Pitt. However, Angelina denounced the FBI for lack of diligence in the investigation, which could reopen the case.

During the divorce process, a preferential takeover clause was included on Château Miraval, further complicating the situation when Angelina attempted to sell her share to a company linked to a Russian tycoon in 2021. This action, which Brad considers intentional to damage the project , has led to requests for a jury trial, seeking a result similar to the case of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, where the jury favored Depp, improving his public image. The dispute continues, reflecting not only the legal tensions but also the deep personal impact on both.
