The 33-year-old actress, daughter of Julia's brother Eric Roberts, who is also known for his roles in films like The Expendables, has carved out her own successful acting career. She has starred in notable projects such as Ryan Murphy's series American Horror Story and Scream Queens.
Emma, who bears a striking resemblance to her famous aunt, revealed in a new interview with Variety that she has been pitched roles alongside Julia. She expressed her desire to find the perfect project for the two of them, but noted that it hasn't happened yet. "I would love to find the perfect project for me and my aunt, and I know that there will be something, but it's never been the right thing," said Emma. "She's the best, and I want to do something with her. We send each other books and talk about stuff, but it hasn't been right."
When she's away on location, Emma finds solace in watching Julia's films. "I watch her movies when I'm by myself. I have movies of hers downloaded on my computer that I watch for comfort," she shared. Her favorites include My Best Friend's Wedding and America's Sweethearts. The former is a classic 1997 romantic comedy starring Julia alongside Cameron Diaz and Dermot Mulroney, while the latter is a 2001 romantic comedy featuring Julia as the stressed personal assistant to a film star played by Catherine Zeta-Jones. These films have contributed to Julia's enduring image as "America's Sweetheart."
Emma's latest comments follow her decision to avoid dating actors after her experiences with method actors, whom she finds difficult to be in a relationship with. She previously dated Cody John, known for his roles in NCIS, The Rookie, and Wu-Tang: An American Saga. Emma, who stars in the upcoming Madame Web film, has had relationships with Alex Pettyfer, Garrett Hedlund, and her American Horror Story co-star Evan Peters.
However, Emma now prefers to date someone outside the acting profession. In an interview with Flaunt, she mentioned that her current boyfriend, whose identity she did not disclose, has a job related to the tech industry. "One day the veil was lifted, and I didn't want to date actors anymore. It's hard for two actors to be together," she explained. "The actors I've been with tend to be method actors, which is extremely difficult to handle in a relationship, especially considering the characters they play."
Emma and Cody went public with their relationship on Instagram in August 2022 and were recently seen kissing passionately in New York City. Emma has a three-year-old son, Rhodes, with Garrett Hedlund, whom she dated for nearly three years until their split in January 2022. Emma's representative later described the incident as an unfortunate misunderstanding, stating that the couple was working together to move past it.
