Rob Lowe and Tom Cruise worked together in the iconic 1980s cult film Outsiders, directed by legendary director Francis Ford Coppola and based on the 1967 novel of the same name by S. E. Hinton.

In this 1983 film, they shared scenes with other great actors such as C. Thomas Howell, Ralph Macchio and Patrick Swayze. Rebels became an iconic film that left a mark on pop culture and the careers of all the actors involved.

Recently, on an episode of The Rich Eisen Show, Rob Lowe, 60, shared his favorite memory of him with Tom Cruise while filming the movie. Lowe has told an anecdote that demonstrates the competitiveness and youthful enthusiasm that both actors had on the set.

"Cruise is so competitive that we used to box in the hallway of the hotel we were staying in during Rebels. Too much testosterone. We were 18-year-old kids stuck in a certain place. So we wore helmets and mouth guards, but we trained legitimately."

Lowe has recalled that, although he was not training at the time, Cruise, who is famous for preparing his roles very seriously, was, and was "muscular" compared to him: "Tom was like a beast. He gave me a very clean hit and it rang like a bell. The next thing I knew I woke up and I was on the floor completely unconscious."

The actor has also commented that he believes Cruise's defenses were activated because "he hit him so hard, it left his eyes black": "But that's what we did, that's what kids do, it's like The Club The struggle".

Rob Lowe's anecdote offers a fascinating look at the behind-the-scenes dynamic with Tom Cruise, underscoring the competitive spirit and unique experiences that marked their time together on the iconic '80s film.
