Princess Catherine makes major announcement about upcoming event after heartfelt apology

She is set to attend a special occasion on Monday, where she will join the Irish Guards for their annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. As Colonel of the regiment, she had to miss last year’s celebrations due to her cancer diagnosis. Now, as she gradually resumes her royal duties, she will take part in the ceremony by awarding Long Service and Good Conduct medals to soldiers and presenting the traditional sprigs of shamrock to officers and guardsmen at Wellington Barracks in London.

The event will also feature the presence of the Irish Guards’ regimental mascot, an Irish wolfhound. As part of the ceremony, Princess Katherine will take the salute as Colonel during the march-past and will have the opportunity to meet Irish Guards veterans, as well as junior cadets from Northern Ireland, known as the Mini Micks. She will also spend time in the junior ranks’ dining hall, where senior guardsmen will propose a toast in her honor. Additionally, she will gather with families in the sergeants’ mess to further engage with the regiment.

In 2023, Princess Katherine attended the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations with Prince William at Mons Barracks in Aldershot, Hampshire, after assuming the role of Colonel from her husband. However, while she was absent from public duties due to abdominal surgery, the Guardsmen showed their support by giving three cheers for their absent Colonel. This year’s event marks her return to the tradition and reinforces her connection with the regiment.
