Prince Harry has come under fire for recent remarks concerning King Charles’ health. In a widely discussed interview with the BBC, the Duke of Sussex made several statements that sparked controversy.
He expressed a desire for reconciliation with his father, saying he saw no benefit in continued conflict and made a striking comment: “I don’t know how much longer my father has.”
Given that King Charles is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, Harry’s remarks have been met with concern and criticism from royal commentators. Ailsa Anderson, former press secretary to the late Queen, voiced her unease in an interview with Sky News. She explained that such comments are likely to fuel media speculation and public anxiety about the King's condition, which could prove damaging during a delicate time.
Anderson also stressed the importance of handling personal matters privately. She argued that if Prince Harry genuinely wishes to rebuild his relationship with the King, doing so publicly through interviews is counterproductive. Instead, private conversations would be far more appropriate and respectful.
In the same interview, Prince Harry also stated that King Charles has refused to communicate with him, citing the ongoing security case as a contributing factor.
