David Foster Breaks His Silence After Viral Meghan Markle Snub Claims Spark Online Drama

David Foster has addressed the viral moment that appeared to show him ignoring Meghan Markle at a charity event, insisting that there was no deliberate snub and that the Duchess of Sussex remains a “dear friend.”

The Grammy-winning composer spoke to People on Wednesday to clarify the interaction, explaining that he had already greeted both Prince Harry and Meghan before the moment captured on the red carpet began circulating online. According to Foster, the encounter was simply misunderstood because of where everyone was standing and how the brief exchange was filmed.

Foster, 76, said he had spoken with Harry and Meghan at the entrance of the event roughly 10 minutes before they encountered one another in front of cameras. He emphasized that the couple had generously given their time to the charity event and made an effort to interact with people throughout the evening.

“They both, graciously and selflessly, gave their time and went beyond to engage with everyone,” Foster said, adding that Harry and Meghan are “dear friends” of his. He also rejected the suggestion that there was tension between them, describing the speculation surrounding the video as a “hurtful lie.”

The brief exchange quickly gained attention online after footage appeared to show Foster smiling and acknowledging Harry as the Duke of Sussex placed a hand on his back. Foster then walked past Meghan, who appeared to have extended an arm in his direction.
