Kylie Kelce Apologizes to Kate Middleton After Royal Title Comment
Hi guys, I am Rizwan, and welcome back to my blog!
The British Royal Family has a funny way of turning even the smallest things into a conversation. A name, a title, one little word — suddenly everyone has an opinion.
And this time, Kylie Kelce has found herself in the middle of it.
If you follow the Royal Family, you probably know that Kate Middleton is now officially Catherine, Princess of Wales. She has been using that title since 2022, when Prince William became the Prince of Wales.
Most people, of course, still call her Kate.
That is exactly where Kylie got herself into trouble.
Kylie Kelce Made a Royal Title Mistake
Kylie invited the Princess of Wales to appear on her Not Gonna Lie podcast.
The invitation actually made sense. Kylie is a mother, Catherine is a mother, and both women have a connection to field hockey. Kylie also pointed out that their husbands, Jason Kelce and Prince William, already have a podcast connection.
But while making the invitation, Kylie referred to Catherine as “Princess Kate” and “Duchess of Cambridge.”
That second title is no longer current.
Catherine became the Princess of Wales in 2022 after William was given the Prince of Wales title.
And yes, people noticed.
Kylie Kelce Apologizes
Kylie later addressed the whole thing on her podcast.
She said she genuinely did not know that calling Catherine “Princess Kate” could be considered offensive.
Once she realized the issue, Kylie apologized.
She also said that from now on, she would use “Princess Catherine” or “the Princess of Wales” when referring to her.
Honestly, it sounds like Kylie simply learned something about royal etiquette that she hadn't known before.
The podcast invitation is still there, too.
So despite the awkward moment, Kylie hasn't exactly closed the door on having Catherine as a guest.
Now we just have to wait and see if the Princess of Wales ever actually takes her up on it.
Kylie Also Talked About Her Language
There was another funny part of the conversation.
Someone suggested Kylie might have to watch her language if Catherine ever appeared on the podcast.
Kylie agreed that she would clean things up.
But she also admitted that she really does love swearing.
Her point was that she knows when to adjust the way she talks depending on who she is speaking with.
So if Catherine ever does show up, Kylie probably won't be treating it like one of her usual casual conversations with friends.
And honestly, I think we can all agree that would be a very different kind of podcast episode.
What Are People Saying About Kylie?
The Page Six comment section had plenty of opinions about the whole situation.
Justin Continent wrote:
“She was the only Kelce to get no media attention. She observed that the quickest way to get it is to insult British royalty.”
That comment suggests Kylie may have gotten more attention than she otherwise would have because of the royal-title mistake.
harrissadie614 had a different take. The commenter wrote:
“She's saying when addressing her she should called princess Catherine. Friends and family can call her Kate but if your not f or f you will respect her and call her Princess Catherine.”
In other words, the commenter felt that people who aren't close to Catherine should use her formal title.
Then Walter Matthau wasn't convinced the public would suddenly stop calling her Kate.
He wrote:
“Well, it's been entertaining - we all will continue to call her Kate.”
He also added:
“Have a good one, if you can even define yourself - LOL xx”
And there you have it.
Kylie made the mistake, explained what happened and apologized.
Now the royal-title debate has taken on a life of its own.
But I'm much more interested in something else.
Will Catherine actually say yes to Kylie's podcast invitation?
Because after all this, that would be one episode I definitely wouldn't want to miss.
