The truth behind Prince Harry and Meghan to apologize to William and Kate Milldeton
Hopes for a reconciliation between King Charles's sons seemed within reach if such intentions were to materialize.
A few days ago, the Daily Express claimed that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, planned to "express their regret" to members of the Royal Family—specifically Prince William and Kate Middleton—regarding their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The British outlet even reported that the Sussexes intended to acknowledge their error regarding the remarks made during the conversation that cast the British Crown in a negative light; however, the reality appears to be quite different.
How much truth is there to the claim that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are seeking "forgiveness" from the Prince and Princess of Wales?
Just when it seemed the rift between the brothers might end with this supposed apology from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, it is now being said that such a move was never part of their plans.
"It’s complete nonsense," royal journalist Tom Sykes told *Page Six* regarding the rumors published by the Daily Express, adding: "Harry has always said he will never apologize for anything."
The writer asserted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have absolutely no regrets about the controversial interview, in which they held nothing back while revealing family secrets during a two-hour primetime special.
One of the most explosive controversies involved a claim by Meghan Markle—who was pregnant with her daughter Lilibet at the time of the interview—that a member of the Royal Family had held "several" conversations expressing concern about the skin color of her son, Archie, before he was born.
Regarding these alleged apologies, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield stated that the rumors are baseless. “Prince Harry and Meghan are standing firm,” shared the host of the *Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered* podcast.
“My own sources have told me that this story is completely false. If anything, the pattern has remained consistent,” she concluded.
Schofield added that she remains skeptical about the idea that Harry and Meghan now regret their Oprah interview and are preparing to retract their statements.
The initial report regarding the Sussexes' alleged apology
The Daily Express reported that “Harry and Meghan always knew, from the moment they decided to return to the UK, that they would have to acknowledge their mistake,” a source told the outlet.
“Their biggest regret about leaving the Royal Family for the United States was their interview with Oprah, and Meghan knows her biggest mistake was claiming that a family member had commented on Archie’s skin color.”
Reports indicate that Prince Harry was angry with his family at the time and that Meghan Markle supported his perspective.
“But now they realize just how low a blow that was. They both know they are impulsive and acknowledge that they went too far,” the source told the tabloid.
The source added that Markle and Harry’s long-term plans in the UK include “making peace” with the Prince and Princess of Wales. “They want to focus on the future and hope that includes a reconciliation at some point,” the source said.
“They really want to sit down and talk to address what was said, and Meghan will apologize.”
Another controversial point arising from the 2021 interview with Oprah was the claim that Meghan was told Archie—who is 7 years old—would not receive a royal title or security protection.
“I’m never going to share that conversation, but it was awkward at the time; I was a bit shocked,” Harry said, without elaborating further on the controversy. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s New Reality in the UK
It was in early 2020 that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to step back from their royal duties and move to the United States. Few expected that, after six years of living in Montecito, California, they would decide to return to the UK.
While there are various theories regarding the true reason for their return, the most prominent one is a desire to reconnect with King Charles III, who was diagnosed with cancer in early 2024. Harry had previously stated in a BBC interview that he wished to reconcile with his family.
The fact is that, while Harry has managed to establish positive communication with his father over some time, his relationship with his brother, Prince William, remains completely at a standstill.
The lingering tension between the brothers continues to draw intense public attention, and many truly wish for their relationship to improve—especially given that they once were, or at least appeared to be, inseparable.
