Last month, Anne Hathaway's Instagram followers came across an inspiring video of the actress warning that she was preparing for a new role for which she had to gain weight. Hathaway has spoken on several occasions about these issues and, seeing the one that was coming her way, she got ahead of the haters. "It's not me, it's you" she rebuked people who would criticize her.
Apparently, the Hollywood actress was not so far off the mark since in a recent interview for Glamor she declared that she has been "embarrassed and humiliated" since she felt that she needed to make that video so that the press would not start speculating about a possible pregnancy.
After being seen for so many years by the magnifying glass of body image that seems to be part of the life of movie stars, the actress is now ready to talk about that scrutiny and break down the impositions of aesthetic pressure. Criticized and hated, Anne Hathaway no longer wants to deal with such issues.
Right now, she is focused on the premiere of 'Ocean's 8' on July 6, where she will share the bill with other great actresses like Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Helena Bonham Carter and Rihanna.
During the interview, the actress also addresses the #TimesUp movement, which seeks to eliminate assault and the imbalance of power suffered by women in Hollywood. "While they don't begin to come close to the heinous and deadly stories that others have shared in recent months, I have had negative experiences on stage, some of a nature. Some are from the beginning of my career, some are more recent, all are unacceptable," he explains to the media.
"It's not just about being an actress. Being a 35-year-old cisgender woman who has daily experienced the imbalance and abuse of the world also made me want to be part of a movement for change. I know the world can be much worse for others than what it has been for me, but I guess like most people who have been hurt, I want to protect others so they don't go through the worst of what I've experienced."
