The 'Friends' actor has spoken in his memories of the peak of his addictions
In 2002, the filmmaker Reginald Hudlin cast Elizabeth Hurley and Matthew Perry in the leading roles of Hung Up on Sara, a comedy that was a real "nightmare" for the British actress. 20 years after its premiere, Hurley has spoken about her work with Perry, in one of the worst times for the Friends actor.
The publication of Matthew Perry's memoirs, Friends, Lovers and That So Terrible, has come surrounded by controversy over the words that the actor pours out about his personal problems. Talking about the height of his drug and alcohol addictions, Perry mentions how production on Hudlin's film had to be put on hiatus so he could go to rehab.
Her co-star Hurley kept her composure throughout, but as she now admits, Perry was hard to work with before she got help. However, she does not hesitate to describe the interpreter as a "charming person".

"Although I have very fond memories of him, to be honest, he was a nightmare to work with at the time and - as is now known - our film was stopped due to his addiction," Elizabeth Hurley reveals to Yahoo Entertainment. "We were in a force majeure situation and we had to sit at home and wait, playing with our thumbs for a while."
The reality is that Hurley and the filmmaker ended up very "angry" with Perry during filming, as Perry records in her book. During the recordings of this film, Perry combined this work with Friends, while he consumed Xanax, Methadone and a liter of vodka every day. This forced her to stay in a private detoxification center for two months, after which she returned to the set and had to re-record the voice of all his scenes.
"It was a little difficult, but he came back and he was fabulous," recalls Hurley now, who confesses that she has only read a few fragments of her book. "Obviously he was going through a difficult time, but he was still very nice and a lovely person to work with, but you could see that he was suffering."
Hurley's words are added to all those who shared a film set with Perry during his worst years. A series of addictions that caused him to carry fears and insecurities for decades, as well as physical problems, which many even related to the cardiac arrest he suffered and caused him to stay out of the film Don't Look Up.
