The influencer Kim Kardashian acquired the piece called Cruz de Attallah.
American influencer and television personality Kim Kardashian has acquired the Attallah Cross, the amethyst and diamond pendant worn on several occasions by Princess Diana, Sotheby's auction house reported.
The piece created in the 1920s by British jeweler Garrard sold for 163,800 pounds ($202,300) on Wednesday during the "Royal and Noble" sale in London.
The pendant, worn by Diana at a charity gala in 1987, fetched more than double the expected floor price before auction, and Sotheby's confirmed it was purchased by a Kardashian representative.
"Rarely does jewelry that the late Princess Diana owned or wore come to market, especially a piece like the Attallah Cross that is so colourful, bold and distinctive," Sotheby's Kristian Spofforth said ahead of the sale.
"To some extent, this rare pendant symbolizes the princess's growing confidence in herself, in her clothing and jewelry choices, at that particular time in her life."
But the pendant isn't the first storied piece to cross paths with the Kardashian.
Last year, the 42-year-old influencer attended the Met Gala in the dress worn by Marilyn Monroe when she sang for then-US President John F. Kennedy on her birthday in 1962.
Kardashian was initially accused of damaging the dress, but the claim was denied by Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum in Los Angeles, which owns the suit.
