Jeremy Renner Reveals Which Marvel Colleague Didn't Leave His Hospital Bedside

Astro who plays Hawkeye says that the most valuable thing for him is not the words, but the actions of his friends

Jeremy Renner was able to count on the support of another Marvel Studios Avenger as he recovered from the serious accident he suffered last January, in which he was run over by a seven-ton snowplow on his property in Reno, in the United States.

In a new interview with the American channel, the 52-year-old actor said that Anthony Mackie, 44, was the set colleague who followed him closely in recent months. The Gavião Arqueiro interpreter made the revelation when asked what was "the best thing anyone had ever said to him" after the accident.

"[What matters] are the actions," pondered Renner. "Mackie was there by my bed in Reno."

In addition to the two actors being part of the Marvel Cinematographic Universe (Mackie played Falcon and is now Captain America in the franchise), they also worked together in 'War on Terror' (2008), a film by Kathryn Bigelow, winner of six Oscars.

Mackie wasn't the only member of the Avengers-era or Hurt Locker cast to follow Renner closely after his accident: actress Evangeline Lilly was also quite concerned about her friend. In February, she told Access that she was surprised by how quickly her friend recovered.

"I walked into his house and I got goosebumps because I was like, 'Why are you moving? Why are you mobile? What's going on?' he was moaning in pain and he couldn't move," Lilly confessed. "He was turning around, laughing with his friends. It's a miracle, a real miracle."

Renner had 30 broken bones, a severe lung injury, and a punctured liver after being run over by a snowplow on New Year's.

A shocking animation shared by the magazine this week recreates the moment of the accident from the actor's account. Asked by journalist Diane Sawyer if he remembered the pain, the artist replied: “Oh, I remember everything. I was awake the whole time. I was in the middle of asphalt and ice. You can imagine how it went. One eye of mine saw the other. I saw stars”.
